Beelink Mini S12 Pro

Beelink Mini S12 Pro: compare this configuration by processor, memory, storage, connections and UK price. Check the exact build and upgrade options before buying.

Updated

The short answer

At 0.5 litres, the Beelink Mini S12 Pro is a very small Windows 11 Pro desktop for browsing, streaming and office work, and that is the job to buy it for. Its four-core Intel N100, 16 GB of DDR4 and 500 GB SATA SSD also make light coding workable. Gaming, homelab duty, local AI and workstation work are a poor fit. Choose it for a desk or TV setup that needs up to two HDMI screens and little else.

Who this suits

It suits anyone who wants a small, ready-to-use Windows 11 Pro machine for web browsing, office documents and streaming to a TV or monitor. Students and home offices that write code in an editor and run light builds will find it workable, given the 16 GB of memory and four cores. At 115 x 102 x 39 mm it fits beside a monitor or TV without claiming much desk space.

Skip it if you want to play games, run several virtual machines or experiment with local AI models. A home server build should look elsewhere too, because there is a single 1GbE port and memory tops out at 16 GB. Heavy creative or engineering work needs discrete graphics and a card slot, and this machine has neither.

Workload fit

Everyday use is where it is well suited: Beelink positions it for home entertainment, streaming, web browsing and office work.

Coding is workable, since 16 GB of memory and four cores suit editors and light builds, but the SATA SSD is slower than NVMe and there are only four threads.

Gaming is a poor fit: the Intel UHD Graphics has 24 execution units, and Beelink pitches the machine at browsing, office work and media playback rather than games.

A homelab is a poor fit too, with one 1GbE port and 16 GB of memory that is already the maximum. There is no second network port to split traffic and no memory headroom for more virtual machines.

Local AI is a poor fit: 16 GB of installed memory and integrated graphics with no dedicated accelerator mean only small quantised models would fit, and their speed has not been measured.

Workstation work is a poor fit: there is no discrete graphics, no x8 or x16 card slot, only one memory slot and too little memory for demanding projects.

Which configuration to choose

The Mini S12 Pro build covered here pairs the Intel N100, with four cores and four threads, with 16 GB of DDR4 and a 500 GB SATA SSD. It ships new with Windows 11 Pro installed and is not a barebones kit, so it is ready to use out of the box. Beelink released it in 2023. Because the 16 GB fitted is already the 16 GB maximum, memory headroom is not a reason to pick one build over another; this one is for everyday work and light coding. If you need more memory or faster networking, the answer is a different machine.

Upgrading it

Memory sits in one slot and is not soldered, but the 16 GB installed already matches the 16 GB maximum, so there is no capacity upgrade to make. The memory runs at 3200 MT/s, which matters if you ever replace the module.

Storage uses one M.2 slot in the 2280 length, and that slot accepts SATA drives. Beelink does not state the slot's PCIe generation, so do not assume an NVMe drive will work or run faster until the maker confirms it. There is no PCIe card slot. A larger SATA M.2 drive is the clear storage path.

Connecting it

Two HDMI outputs drive up to two screens, and there is no DisplayPort output, so plan on two HDMI cables. Beelink does not state the HDMI version, so check it before buying a high-resolution or high-refresh monitor for this machine.

Wired networking is one 1GbE port, and Wi-Fi 6 comes with the wireless module included. There are no USB4 or Thunderbolt ports and no OCuLink. Power comes from an external 12V 3A supply, and the processor's TDP is 25 W.

Limitations

The ceiling is the main limit: one memory slot with a 16 GB maximum, a single 1GbE port, no PCIe card slot and SATA storage rather than confirmed NVMe. Beelink also does not state the number of USB-C or USB-A ports, whether USB-C carries DisplayPort, Bluetooth support, the HDMI version, the M.2 PCIe generation, the memory slot type, ECC support, SATA bays, an SD card reader, VESA mounting, the graphics memory size or type, or the memory bandwidth.

Alternatives

The Beelink EQ14 is the obvious sibling to compare. It uses an Intel N150 rather than the Intel N100, and its network runs at 2.5GbE rather than 1GbE. The network difference is the deciding one: if you want a small box for file transfers or a modest home server, the faster port matters most. If the machine will only browse, stream and handle office work, the Mini S12 Pro already covers that.

Common questions

Can I add more memory to the Beelink Mini S12 Pro?

No capacity upgrade is possible. It has one memory slot, the memory is not soldered, and the 16 GB installed is already the 16 GB maximum, so you could only swap the module for another of the same size.

How many monitors can it run?

Up to two, both over HDMI, since it has two HDMI outputs and no DisplayPort output. Beelink does not state the HDMI version, so check it before pairing the machine with a demanding high-resolution display.

Is it any good for gaming?

It is a poor fit. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics has 24 execution units, and Beelink aims the machine at browsing, office work and media playback rather than games. Treat it as a media and office box instead.

Does it have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth?

Wi-Fi, yes: Beelink includes a wireless module with Wi-Fi 6, alongside one wired 1GbE port. Beelink does not state Bluetooth support, so confirm it if you plan to use wireless keyboards, mice or headphones.
