ATEN US3311 2-Port 4K DisplayPort USB-C KVM Switch with Power Pass-through (Duo Flex)

Part numberUS3311

The short answer

The ATEN US3311 is a KVM switch that lets two computers share one desk setup, with USB-C carrying the video from each machine. It suits a mini PC owner who runs a pair of machines and wants to switch between them, as long as both have a USB-C port that outputs video.

Specifications

The switch handles two computers, so it covers a mini PC plus one other machine, such as a laptop or a second mini PC. Video goes in over USB-C, which is why the port on each computer matters more than anything else here. The name also points to a DisplayPort connection to the monitor and power pass-through, and the part number is US3311. The maker's own page is the place to check how those are wired.

Which mini PCs it fits

Because the video connection is USB-C, each computer needs a USB-C port with display output. The ASUS ROG NUC 16 Edition 20, Apple Mac Studio (M5 Max), BOSGAME M5 and Beelink SER8 each connect through such a port. The Lenovo ThinkCentre neo 50q Gen 5, ACEMAGIC S1 and HP Z2 Mini G1i do not fit, since none has USB-C with DisplayPort output. For the Beelink SER9 and Dell Pro Max Micro FCM2250, we have not confirmed whether the USB-C port outputs video.

Checked against every mini PC sold on amazon.com, from the specifications we hold for each machine.

Before you buy

Before you buy, confirm that the USB-C port on each of your machines outputs video, because a plain data port will not work. ATEN does not state the port layout, so check the maker's page for what else connects to the switch.

Common questions

Can I use it with a mini PC that only has HDMI?

No. The switch takes video over USB-C, so each machine needs a USB-C port with display output. The Lenovo ThinkCentre neo 50q Gen 5 has no such output and does not fit.

How many computers can it switch between?

It switches between two computers, and each one sends its video to the switch over USB-C, so both machines need a USB-C port that can output video.

Does it work with the Beelink SER8 and SER9?

The Beelink SER8 fits because it connects through a USB-C port with display output. For the Beelink SER9, we have not confirmed whether its USB-C port outputs video.
