Zyxel XMG-105

Part numberXMG-105

The short answer

Five 2.5GbE ports, one SFP+ port and no fan define the Zyxel XMG-105, part number XMG-105, an unmanaged network switch for a mini PC owner who wants to put several wired devices on 2.5GbE links. It supplies no PoE power, with a budget of 0 W.

Specifications

The XMG-105 has five 2.5GbE ports and no 10GbE ports, so the speed of those links tops out at 2.5GbE. One SFP+ port sits alongside them.

It is unmanaged, which means there are no management settings to work through. It is fanless, so there is no fan to make noise. Its PoE budget is 0 W, so it cannot power cameras, access points or other PoE devices.

Which mini PCs it fits

A switch connects through a mini PC's wired LAN port, and a link to one of the five 2.5GbE ports can only run at 2.5GbE if the machine's own port runs at that speed.

For the Beelink SER8 and the Dell Pro Max Micro FCM2250 we have not confirmed it fits, because we have not confirmed the LAN speed of either machine. Check the Ethernet speed in the machine's own specifications before you count on 2.5GbE.

Checked against every mini PC sold on amazon.com, from the specifications we hold for each machine.

Before you buy

Devices that need PoE will need their own power, since the budget is 0 W. There are no 10GbE ports and no management features. Fit is not confirmed for the Beelink SER8 or the Dell Pro Max Micro FCM2250 until their LAN speed is known. Zyxel's own specification page is the place to check details.

Common questions

Does the Zyxel XMG-105 power PoE devices?

No. The XMG-105 has a PoE budget of 0 W, so any device that draws power over Ethernet needs its own power supply and cannot be powered from this switch.

Is the Zyxel XMG-105 a managed switch?

No. The XMG-105 is unmanaged and has five 2.5GbE ports plus one SFP+ port, so it works as a plain switch with no management settings to configure.

Will the XMG-105 run a Beelink SER8 at 2.5GbE?

We have not confirmed it. The LAN speed of the Beelink SER8 is not confirmed, and that speed decides whether its link to the switch can run at 2.5GbE.
