Crucial P310 2TB

Part numberCT2000P310SSD801

The short answer

Crucial's P310 2TB suits a mini PC owner with a standard M.2 2280 slot who wants a lot of NVMe storage. It is a 2 TB PCIe 4.0 drive, and it ships without a heatsink, so any cooling has to come from your machine.

Specifications

The drive holds 2 TB. It uses PCIe 4.0, and its sequential read speed is 7100 MB/s. In a PCIe 3.0 slot, as on the Beelink EQ14, it runs at PCIe 3.0 speed instead. It is an M.2 2280 stick with no heatsink fitted, so cooling depends on your machine.

Which mini PCs it fits

An M.2 2280 NVMe drive goes in an M.2 2280 slot, and that is the test for your machine. The GMKtec NucBox G3, HP Z2 Mini G1a, Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Gen 5 and MINISFORUM AI X1 Pro take it. The ACEMAGIC V1, BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra and Beelink EQ14 take it but run it at PCIe 3.0 speed. The Apple Mac mini (M5 Pro), Apple Mac mini (M6) and Apple Mac Studio (M5 Max) have no M.2 slot. We have not confirmed the fit for the GMKtec NucBox M5 Plus or the NIMO Mini PC Desktop AI Max+ 395.

Before you buy

Check your slot first: on the ACEMAGIC V1, BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra and Beelink EQ14 the drive is held to PCIe 3.0 speed. Crucial does not state the sequential write speed, the endurance, the DRAM cache or whether the drive is single-sided, so sustained writes and slot clearance are open questions.

Common questions

Does it work in a mini PC with a PCIe 3.0 slot?

Yes, the ACEMAGIC V1, BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra and Beelink EQ14 take it, but their slot runs the drive at PCIe 3.0 speed rather than PCIe 4.0.

Can I use it in a Mac mini?

No. The Apple Mac mini (M5 Pro) and Apple Mac mini (M6) have no M.2 slot, and this drive is an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD, so it does not fit.

Does it come with a heatsink?

No heatsink is fitted, so cooling depends on your machine. Crucial also does not state whether the drive is single-sided, which matters if your slot is tight.
