Western Digital WD_BLACK SN850X 8TB
WDS800T2X0E
Part numberWDS800T2X0E
Western Digital's WD_BLACK SN850X 8TB puts 8 TB on a bare M.2 2280 NVMe drive that runs on PCIe 4.0 with a sequential read of 7300 MB/s. It is for a mini PC owner who wants one big drive in a single slot instead of several smaller ones.

WDS800T2X0E
Capacity is 8 TB, and the sequential read is 7300 MB/s. The drive speaks NVMe over PCIe 4.0 and comes in the M.2 2280 size, so it needs a slot built for both. No heatsink is fitted, and the drive is not single-sided, so check clearance and cooling in your machine's slot before you install it.

An M.2 2280 NVMe drive goes in an M.2 2280 slot. It fits the GMKtec NucBox K10 and the HP Z2 Mini G1a, for example. The ACEMAGIC AM06 Pro and the Beelink EQ14 take it, but their slot runs it at PCIe 3.0 speed. The Apple Mac mini (M5 Pro) has no M.2 slot, so it does not fit. For the GMKtec NucBox M5 Plus we have not confirmed it fits, because we do not know how many M.2 slots it has.
Checked against every mini PC sold on amazon.com, from the specifications we hold for each machine.
In some machines the slot runs this drive at PCIe 3.0 speed, so its PCIe 4.0 speed is not available there. Western Digital does not state the sequential write speed, the endurance or whether the drive has a DRAM cache.
No. The Apple Mac mini (M5 Pro) and the Mac Studio (M5 Max) have no M.2 slot, so this M.2 2280 drive does not fit them.
Not always. In the ACEMAGIC AM06 Pro, BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra and Beelink EQ14 it fits but runs at PCIe 3.0 speed, while the drive itself is a PCIe 4.0 NVMe model.
No, no heatsink is fitted, and Western Digital does not state whether the drive has a DRAM cache, so plan for cooling in your machine's slot.
