Specifications

The drive holds 2 TB and reads sequentially at 5150 MB/s. It talks NVMe over PCIe 4.0, so a slot limited to PCIe 3.0 will run it at that slower speed. The size is M.2 2280, which is the slot length to look for in your machine. It arrives with no heatsink fitted, so if your mini PC gives the slot no cooling of its own, you would add one yourself.

Which mini PCs it fits

An M.2 2280 NVMe drive goes in an M.2 2280 slot. It fits the MINISFORUM MS-A2, MSI MAX Edge AI+, ACEMAGIC F3A and ASUS ExpertCenter PN65. The ACEMAGIC AM06 Pro, BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra and Beelink EQ14 take it too, but only at PCIe 3.0 speed. The Apple Mac mini (M5 Pro), Mac mini (M6) and Mac Studio (M5 Max) have no M.2 slot, so it does not fit. We have not confirmed the fit for the NIMO Mini PC Desktop AI Max+ 395 or the ACEMAGIC AM08 Pro, as we have not confirmed how many M.2 slots they have.

Before you buy

Western Digital does not state the sequential write speed, the endurance, whether the drive has a DRAM cache, or whether it is single-sided. If your machine is tight on space around the slot, check the clearance before buying. In the three PCIe 3.0 machines above, the drive works but not at its full speed.

Common questions

Can I put this SSD in a Mac mini?

No. The Apple Mac mini (M5 Pro), Mac mini (M6) and Mac Studio (M5 Max) have no M.2 slot, so an M.2 2280 drive like this has nothing to plug into.

Will it run at PCIe 4.0 speed in my mini PC?

Not always. In the ACEMAGIC AM06 Pro, BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra and Beelink EQ14 the slot runs it at PCIe 3.0 speed, although the drive itself uses PCIe 4.0.

Does it come with a heatsink?

No, it comes without a heatsink fitted. Check whether your mini PC's slot has its own cover or cooling, or plan to add a heatsink yourself.
