BenQ GW2790E

Part numberGW2790E

The short answer

The 27" IPS panel on the BenQ GW2790E runs at 1920x1080 and 100 Hz. It suits a mini PC owner who wants a plain desk display with built-in speakers and a choice of HDMI or DisplayPort inputs.

Specifications

You get a 27" screen at 1920x1080, so the resolution is modest for the size. The 100 Hz refresh rate covers everyday desktop work. The panel is IPS. HDMI and DisplayPort mean either cable works, provided your mini PC has the matching output. Built-in speakers mean you can start with just the monitor and your mini PC.

Which mini PCs it fits

This monitor has no USB-C video input, so a mini PC has to connect over HDMI or DisplayPort. The rule is that the machine needs a video output matching one of those two inputs. We have confirmed it fits the Dell Pro Max Micro FCM2250, GEEKOM A8 Max, GMKtec EVO-X2 and HP Z2 Mini G1a. We have not confirmed the fit for the ASUS ROG NUC 15 or the BOSGAME M5, because their HDMI outputs are not confirmed.

Checked against every mini PC sold on amazon.co.uk, from the specifications we hold for each machine.

Before you buy

The monitor has no USB-C video input, so your mini PC needs HDMI or DisplayPort. BenQ does not state the DisplayPort or HDMI version, USB-C power delivery, Thunderbolt input, KVM switch, daisy chain output, HDR, HDR certification or VESA mount support, which matters if you want a monitor arm.

Common questions

Can I connect it with USB-C?

No. The monitor has no USB-C video input, so you need to connect your mini PC through its HDMI or DisplayPort input, after checking that your machine has a matching output.

Does it have speakers?

Yes, it has built-in speakers. BenQ does not state HDR support or the HDMI and DisplayPort versions, so check those if your use depends on them.

Does it fit the GEEKOM A8 Max?

Yes. We have confirmed it fits the GEEKOM A8 Max, and the monitor connects over HDMI or DisplayPort rather than USB-C, so use one of those cables.
