BenQ PD2730S

Part numberPD2730S

The short answer

The BenQ PD2730S is a 27" IPS monitor with a 5120x2880 resolution, and its Thunderbolt 4 input lets one cable carry the whole connection to your mini PC. It refreshes at 60 Hz, delivers 90 W of power delivery and includes a built-in KVM switch.

The monitor's 90 W power delivery will not run the mini PC.

Specifications

At 27" and 5120x2880, the panel works out to about 218 pixels per inch, though the refresh rate is 60 Hz. The panel is IPS with HDR10 and VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. The Thunderbolt 4 input brings 90 W of power delivery, and a Thunderbolt 4 out port provides 15 W for daisy chaining. HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 cover machines without Thunderbolt. The monitor also takes a VESA mount.

Which mini PCs it fits

A monitor needs a video output on the mini PC that matches one of its inputs. This one takes Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4, and it accepts video over USB-C. The ACEMAGIC F3A, ASUS ExpertCenter PN65, Apple Mac Studio (M5 Max) and BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra fit. The GMKtec EVO-X3 and BOSGAME M5 fit with a caveat: the monitor's 90 W power delivery will not run them. We have not confirmed the fit for the NIMO Mini PC Desktop AI Max+ 395 or the ASUS ROG NUC 15, because their HDMI outputs are not confirmed.

Before you buy

Check power first: the 90 W of power delivery will not run mini PCs like the GMKtec EVO-X3 or BOSGAME M5. The USB-C upstream port carries data only, not video. BenQ does not state whether the monitor has speakers, so do not count on them.

Common questions

Can the monitor power my mini PC over the cable?

Sometimes. The monitor delivers 90 W over Thunderbolt 4, but that power will not run the GMKtec EVO-X3 or the BOSGAME M5, so check your machine's power needs first.

Can I connect a mini PC that has no Thunderbolt port?

Possibly. The monitor also has HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 inputs, so a machine with a matching video output can connect, and it accepts video over USB-C. Check your machine's outputs first.

Does the PD2730S have built-in speakers?

BenQ does not state whether the PD2730S has built-in speakers, so do not count on them. Plan on your mini PC's audio output or separate speakers.
