Dell UltraSharp U2724D

Part numberU2724D

The same part under other regional numbers: P3FG2

The short answer

A 27" IPS monitor running 2560x1440 at 120 Hz, the Dell UltraSharp U2724D is for a mini PC owner who wants a roomy, smooth desk display. It accepts video over HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C, so the question is whether your machine has a matching output.

Specifications

This is a 27" IPS panel at 2560x1440 with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Inputs are HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C. Because the USB-C input accepts video, a mini PC with a video-capable USB-C port can send the picture over one cable. Whether a given output can carry 2560x1440 at 120 Hz depends on its version, which matters when you pick the cable and port.

Which mini PCs it fits

A monitor needs a matching video output on the machine. This one takes HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C, and the USB-C port has to carry video. The Beelink EQR6, Dell Pro Max Micro FCM2250, GEEKOM A8 Max and GMKtec EVO-X2 each fit, because each has an output this monitor accepts. For the MSI MAX Edge AI+ and the NIMO Mini PC Desktop AI Max+ 395 we have not confirmed it fits, since we do not have the details of their HDMI outputs.

Checked against every mini PC sold on amazon.co.uk, from the specifications we hold for each machine.

Before you buy

Dell does not state the DisplayPort or HDMI version, USB-C power delivery, Thunderbolt input, a built-in KVM switch, daisy chain output, HDR, HDR certification, VESA mount or speakers. So do not count on the USB-C cable charging your machine, and check the mounting plan before you buy if you want an arm.

Common questions

Can I connect the Dell UltraSharp U2724D over USB-C?

Yes, it has a USB-C video input, so a mini PC with a USB-C port that outputs video can drive it. Dell does not state USB-C power delivery, so do not rely on charging.

Does it support HDR?

Dell does not state whether the monitor supports HDR, and it does not state an HDR certification, so we cannot say it does. Check Dell's own page before buying if HDR matters to you.

Will it work with the MSI MAX Edge AI+?

We have not confirmed it fits the MSI MAX Edge AI+, because we do not have the details of that machine's HDMI outputs. The same applies to the NIMO Mini PC Desktop AI Max+ 395.
