The short answer

The LG UltraFine 27UP850K takes video over USB-C and returns 90 W of power delivery on that same port, so it suits a mini PC owner who wants a sharp 27" IPS desk display on one cable. The resolution is 3840x2160 at 60 Hz, and 2 HDMI inputs and a DisplayPort 1.4 input sit alongside the USB-C.

Which mini PCs it fits

A monitor needs a video output on the mini PC that matches one of its inputs: HDMI, DisplayPort 1.4 or USB-C carrying video. The MINISFORUM AI X1 Pro, ACEMAGIC AM06 Pro, ASUS ExpertCenter PN65 and Apple Mac Studio (M5 Max) fit. The BOSGAME M5 and GMKtec EVO-X3 fit with a caveat: the monitor's 90 W power delivery will not run the mini PC. For the MINISFORUM AtomMan G7 Pro and MSI MAX Edge AI+, we have not confirmed it fits, because we do not know what HDMI outputs those machines have.

Checked against every mini PC sold on amazon.co.uk, from the specifications we hold for each machine.

Before you buy

Check power first: the 90 W will not run the BOSGAME M5 or GMKtec EVO-X3, so those machines still need their own power. LG does not state the HDMI version, a Thunderbolt input, a built-in KVM switch or a daisy chain output, so do not plan around any of them.

Common questions

Can one USB-C cable run this monitor from my mini PC?

The monitor accepts video over USB-C and supplies 90 W of power delivery, so a mini PC with a video-capable USB-C port can use one cable, though that power will not run every machine.

Does it have a Thunderbolt input or a KVM switch?

LG does not state a Thunderbolt input or a built-in KVM switch. The confirmed video inputs are 2 HDMI, DisplayPort 1.4 and USB-C, so plan around those.

Is it a good screen for fast-paced gaming?

It runs 3840x2160 at 60 Hz on an IPS panel, which suits a sharp desk display more than high-refresh play.
