Sabrent Rocket 2230 1TB

Part numberSB-2130-1TB

The short answer

Only a machine with a short M.2 2230 slot can take the Sabrent Rocket 2230 1TB, an NVMe SSD on PCIe 4.0 with 1 TB of capacity and a sequential read of 4750 MB/s. It is for a mini PC owner who has checked that slot size and wants a roomy drive in that short format.

Specifications

You get 1 TB of storage in the 2230 format. Over NVMe on PCIe 4.0, the sequential read is 4750 MB/s, which is a read figure only and says nothing about writes. No heatsink is fitted to the drive. The part number is SB-2130-1TB, handy for matching the exact drive when you order.

Which mini PCs it fits

The rule is simple: an M.2 2230 NVMe drive goes in an M.2 2230 slot, and a slot cut for the 2280 size will not take it. The Beelink ME mini is a machine it fits. The Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Gen 6, the MINISFORUM AI X1 Pro and the MSI MAX Edge AI+ do not fit, because each takes 2280 drives, not 2230. For the NIMO Mini PC Desktop AI Max+ 395 and the ACEMAGIC AM08 Pro we have not confirmed it fits, since the number of M.2 slots in those machines is not confirmed.

Checked against every mini PC sold on amazon.co.uk, from the specifications we hold for each machine.

Before you buy

Check your slot size first: this is a 2230 drive, and some machines take only 2280. Sabrent does not state the drive's sequential write speed, its endurance, whether it has a DRAM cache or whether it is single-sided, so those are open questions before you buy.

Common questions

Will it fit a 2280 slot?

No. This is an M.2 2230 drive, and machines such as the Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Gen 6 take 2280, not 2230, so check your slot size before ordering.

Does it come with a heatsink?

No. The Sabrent Rocket 2230 1TB has no heatsink fitted, so it is a bare M.2 2230 drive with 1 TB of capacity. Sabrent does not state its endurance.

Which mini PCs does it fit?

The Beelink ME mini is a machine it fits. For the NIMO Mini PC Desktop AI Max+ 395 and ACEMAGIC AM08 Pro, we have not confirmed it fits.
