Sabrent Rocket 2242 4TB

Part numberSB-2742-4TB

The short answer

Short M.2 2242 size sets the Sabrent Rocket 2242 4TB apart: it is a 4 TB NVMe SSD on PCIe 4.0 for a mini PC owner whose machine has a slot that takes 2242 drives and who wants a lot of storage in that short format. It comes without a heatsink.

Specifications

At 4 TB, it holds a large library or many projects on one small drive. Its sequential read is 7300 MB/s over NVMe PCIe 4.0. The M.2 2242 form factor is shorter than the 2280 size some machines use.

No heatsink is fitted, so check whether your machine's slot has its own cooling or room for one.

Which mini PCs it fits

The rule is set by the drive itself: an M.2 2242 NVMe drive goes in an M.2 slot that takes 2242. The ASUS NUC 14 Pro, Beelink ME mini, GMKtec NucBox G3S and ASUS NUC 14 Pro+ are examples where it fits.

The BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra and BOSGAME M5 take 2280 drives, not 2242, so it does not fit them. The Apple Mac Studio (M5 Ultra) has no M.2 slot. For the ACEMAGIC AM08 Pro and GMKtec NucBox M5 Plus, we have not confirmed it fits, because their number of M.2 slots is not known.

Checked against every mini PC sold on amazon.co.uk, from the specifications we hold for each machine.

Before you buy

Check your machine's slot size first: a slot that takes only 2280 will not take this drive. Sabrent does not state the sequential write speed, the endurance, whether there is a DRAM cache or whether the drive is single-sided.

Common questions

Will the Sabrent Rocket 2242 4TB fit my mini PC?

It fits a machine whose M.2 slot takes 2242 drives, such as the ASUS NUC 14 Pro or Beelink ME mini. It does not fit the BOSGAME M5, which takes 2280 instead.

Does it come with a heatsink?

No heatsink is fitted. If your mini PC's slot has no cooling of its own, plan for that before you buy; the drive reads at 7300 MB/s over PCIe 4.0.

How fast is it?

Its sequential read is 7300 MB/s on NVMe PCIe 4.0. Sabrent does not state the sequential write speed, so we cannot say how fast it writes.
