The short answer
Samsung's 990 EVO 2TB, part number MZ-V9E2T0BW, is an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD with 2 TB of capacity on PCIe 4.0. It suits a mini PC owner with a free M.2 2280 slot who wants a roomy drive. It ships without a heatsink.
Specifications
The drive holds 2 TB. Its sequential read is 5000 MB/s over NVMe PCIe 4.0. In a PCIe 4.0 slot that read speed is available; in a slot that runs at PCIe 3.0 speed, expect less. It is the 2280 length and has no heatsink fitted, so check whether your machine's slot has its own cover or cooling.

Which mini PCs it fits
An M.2 2280 NVMe drive goes in an M.2 2280 slot. The GMKtec EVO-X2, HP Z2 Mini G1a, Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Gen 5 and MINISFORUM AI X1 Pro fit. The GMKtec NucBox M6, ACEMAGIC AM06 Pro and BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra take it, but the slot runs it at PCIe 3.0 speed. The Apple Mac mini (M6), Mac Studio (M5 Max) and Mac Studio (M5 Ultra) have no M.2 slot, so it does not fit. We have not confirmed fit for the GMKtec NucBox M5 Plus or the NIMO Mini PC Desktop AI Max+ 395.

Before you buy
On the GMKtec NucBox M6, ACEMAGIC AM06 Pro and BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra, the slot holds the drive to PCIe 3.0 speed. Samsung does not state the sequential write speed, the endurance, whether there is a DRAM cache, or whether the drive is single-sided. Single-sided matters in tight slots, so check clearance first.
Common questions
Will the Samsung 990 EVO 2TB work in a Mac mini or Mac Studio?
No. The Apple Mac mini (M6), Mac Studio (M5 Max) and Mac Studio (M5 Ultra) have no M.2 slot, so this M.2 2280 drive does not fit them.
Does it run at PCIe 4.0 speed in every mini PC it fits?
Not always. In the GMKtec NucBox M6, ACEMAGIC AM06 Pro and BMAX MaxMini B4 Ultra it fits, but the slot runs it at PCIe 3.0 speed, though the drive itself uses PCIe 4.0.
Does it come with a heatsink?
No, no heatsink is fitted. Samsung also does not state whether the drive is single-sided, so check clearance in your machine's slot before buying.
