The short answer
WD_BLACK SN8100 8TB is an 8 TB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD from WD on PCIe 5.0, for a mini PC owner who wants one large, fast drive in a single slot. It has no heatsink fitted, so the machine's own cooling and slot space matter.
Specifications
At 8 TB, it puts a lot of storage on one slot. Sequential read is 14900 MB/s and sequential write is 13200 MB/s, though those peaks depend on a PCIe 5.0 slot. Endurance is 4800 TBW, and the drive has a DRAM cache. It is double-sided and has no heatsink fitted, so allow room for chips on both sides of the board and think about airflow.

Which mini PCs it fits
The rule: an M.2 2280 NVMe drive needs an M.2 2280 slot, and this one is PCIe 5.0, so a slower slot runs it at that slot's speed.
The Beelink GTi14 Ultra, GEEKOM A8 Max, GMKtec NucBox G3 and HP Z2 Mini G1i are machines it fits. The GMKtec NucBox G9 runs it at PCIe 3.0 speed, and a double-sided drive in its ultra-compact chassis needs a clearance check. The Apple Mac Studio (M5 Ultra), Mac mini (M5 Pro) and Mac mini (M6) have no M.2 slot, so it does not fit them.

Before you buy
Speed depends on the slot: PCIe 4.0 in the HP Z2 Mini G1a and Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Gen 5, PCIe 3.0 in the GMKtec NucBox G9.
We have not confirmed the fit for the GMKtec NucBox M5 Plus or the NIMO Mini PC Desktop AI Max+ 395, because we do not know how many M.2 slots they have.
Common questions
Does the WD_BLACK SN8100 8TB work in a PCIe 4.0 slot?
Yes. In the HP Z2 Mini G1a and the Lenovo ThinkCentre M70q Gen 5 it runs at PCIe 4.0 speed, below its PCIe 5.0 interface, so expect lower speeds than the 14900 MB/s read.
Does it come with a heatsink?
No. The WD_BLACK SN8100 8TB has no heatsink fitted, and it is a double-sided drive, so check the cooling and clearance in your mini PC before you buy.
Will it work in a Mac mini?
No. The Apple Mac mini (M6) and Mac mini (M5 Pro) have no M.2 slot, and this drive is an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD, so it has nowhere to go.
