QNAP QSW-M408-4C
Part numberQSW-M408-4C
The short answer
A managed switch with four 10GbE ports and four SFP+ ports, the QNAP QSW-M408-4C is meant for a mini PC owner who wants 10GbE wired links between machines. It has no 2.5GbE ports, and its PoE budget is 0 W, so it does not power devices over the cable.

Specifications
Four 10GbE ports give you four wired connections at that speed. Four SFP+ ports sit alongside them. Because the switch is managed, you can configure it rather than just plug it in. None of its ports is 2.5GbE. A device that needs power over Ethernet needs its own supply, since the PoE budget is 0 W. The switch is not fanless.

Which mini PCs it fits
A switch has no slot to match. What decides the result is the LAN speed of your mini PC's own port against the speeds this switch offers. Its ports are 10GbE and SFP+, with no 2.5GbE ports at all. No machine is confirmed as a fit yet. For the GMKtec NucBox M5 Plus and the HP Z2 Mini G1a, the fit is not confirmed, because we do not know the LAN speed of either one.

Before you buy
Before you buy, check the network port speed on your own machine, because the fit is not confirmed for the two machines named above. The switch is not fanless. Anything that relies on PoE will not be powered by it. QNAP's own page carries the full hardware specifications.
Common questions
Does the QSW-M408-4C power devices over Ethernet?
No. Its PoE budget is 0 W, so any device that relies on PoE needs its own power supply instead of drawing power through this switch.
Is it a managed switch, and which ports does it have?
Yes, it is a managed switch, and it has four 10GbE ports plus four SFP+ ports. It has no 2.5GbE ports.
Will it work with the GMKtec NucBox M5 Plus or the HP Z2 Mini G1a?
We have not confirmed it. The LAN speed of both the GMKtec NucBox M5 Plus and the HP Z2 Mini G1a is not known to us, so check the port speed on your machine first.
